Welcome Message from the Organizing Committee
On behalf of the Program Organizing Committee, the Worldwide Network for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (WBMT) would like to welcome you to its upcoming meeting to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 15-17 January 2017.
The WBMT is a non profit scientific organization with the mission to promote excellence in stem cell transplantation, stem cell donation and cellular therapy. The purpose of this cooperation is to engage exclusively in scientific and educational activities and endeavours. The WBMT is a Non-Governmental Organization in official relation with World Health Organization (WHO).
Previous WBMT workshops have been held in Hanoi, Salvador Bahia, and Cape Town. We are pleased to bring the 4th Workshop and Symposium to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and to the Eastern Mediterranean Region. We hope this event will enhance existing and planned HSCT programs in the region.
The meeting is split into two components. The workshop will be held on the first 2 days (15th – 16th January) in partnership with World Health Organization (WHO). The educational symposium of the WBMT will be on the 3rd day (17th January).
The format of the workshop has been devised to comprise short presentations followed by roundtable discussions with representatives from established transplant centers in countries with limited resources and representatives from countries with a medical need for HSCT. A preliminary program is available here.
The goals of the workshop will be to:
Provide a technical and clinical framework for the establishment of transplant programs in the region in centers which may already have the infrastructure to start HSCT;
Address the implementation of standards in HSCT, quality and accreditation in the region for centers with existing HSCT program;
Establish a support program, or a buddy-system, between established centers and newly developed or nascent HSCT programs.
The symposium will be held on the 3rd day. The program will cover disease specific HSCT and transplantation topics with particular emphasis on prevalent diseases and complications in the EMRO region.
Registration of all presenters and attendees is required and will be available here.
Information regarding visa, travel and accommodation is available on the site. For any information please email [email protected]
We are looking forward to an exciting meeting with your active participation in Riyadh.
With best regards!
